We have had a continual history of elected Chiefs, cultural events and honored traditions despite years of oppression.
1924, Forced underground for more than 150 years ago by the Acting Governor of Missouri and Arkansas territory, by stating all American Indians that remained would be killed or forcibly removed, the different bands of the Lower Town Cherokee were finally free to meet openly to reaffirm their alliance.
There are currently thousands of Registered American Indian Voters in Missouri and Arkansas.
Tribal members live in all 50 states, many stationed in the military around the world.
We fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean Conflict, Bay of Pigs, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Kuwait, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.
